Principal’s Message

Welcome to the Department of Distance Education, School of Open Learning, Campus of Open Learning (DDCE/SOL/COL), University of Delhi. We take immense pride in having pioneered distance education in India in 1962. Currently, we maintain the largest student enrolment among all dual-mode universities in the country.

At DDCE/SOL/COL, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional learning experience for our students. We focus on building a strong foundation through high-quality education, aiming to nurture the holistic development of responsible individuals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.

In response to evolving trends, we have introduced professional courses such as MBA, BBA, and others, designed to align with the demands of the job market and enhance employability for our students.

We are dedicated to the successful implementation of the National Education Policy, which aims to foster the holistic development of Indian youth, with a strong focus on skill development. In alignment with the National Education Policy, we have established the Centre for Innovative Skill-Based Courses (CISBC) under open Learning Development Centre (OLDC) at Campus of Open Learning, offering a variety of short-term skill development courses aimed at preparing students for the job market. Newly established Open Learning Development Center is providing all its Rearch and Development support in delivering knowledge using modern ICT tools.

We are proud to have a distinguished alumni network that includes prominent figures across various fields, from politicians and chartered accountants to accomplished sports personalities and many more. Their achievements inspire current and future students to strive for excellence and make meaningful contributions to society in diverse sectors. Over the years, our students have consistently reinforced our strong belief in their ability to shape a brighter future for themselves and for the nation.
