SOL has developed a network of study center libraries to provide easy access to text books, reference materials, periodicals, magazines, newspapers and digital resources for students enrolled in various programs at SOL. These libraries cater to the academic needs of distance learners by offering reference materials, textbooks, and online resources. The study center libraries are located at:

Rules and Regulations
Library Fees & Security
- Undergraduate Courses: The library fees is Rs.200/- per student per annum. A refundable security fees of Rs. 200/- per student is also levied.
- Postgraduate Courses: The library fee is Rs. 400/- per student per annum, with a refundable security fee of Rs. 500/-
Library Membership
- Membership to the library is available to students, faculty members and non-teaching members of SOL. To gain membership, individuals must mandatorily register and present the necessary documents for identification purposes.
Renewal of Membership
- Students are required to renew their membership every year by presenting the fee receipt and the renewed ID card for the current academic session.
e-Library Clearance Certificate
- After the completion of their final exams, students must mandatorily return all the library materials, including books, journals, periodicals and other resources and obtain a Clearance Certificate from the library, to confirm that all the items have been returned to the library. link for library no dues
Loan Privileges
Loan privileges in the SOL library are designed to cater to students across various academic programmes that are offered by SOL.
- B.A.(Prog.)/B.Com.: Students enrolled in these courses can borrow two books for a period of 30 days.
- Honours Courses: Students enrolled in Honours courses are entitled to borrow three books for a period of 30 days.
- Postgraduate Courses: PG students are permitted to borrow four books for a period of 45 days.
General Library Guidelines
- Library Access: The library is open to Bonafide students of SOL. Access is granted upon presenting valid ID card issued by SOL. The SOL ID card must be produced when borrowing the books and also while entering the library premises.
- Gate Register : All visitors are requested to sign the gate register at the property counter upon entering the library.
- Personal Belongings: Bags, briefcases, personal items and books from other libraries aren’t allowed inside the SOL library. The library isn’t responsible for the loss of or damage to personal belongings left unattended on the library premises. Items such as mobile phones, cash, laptops, tablets etc. cannot be deposited at the property counter and must be taken back by the student on the same day.
Library Hours
Operational Hours: the library is open from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM on working days at all the study centres of SOL.
PCP Classes & Holidays: Library will remain open during PCP classes as per schedule and on other holidays, except for the National holidays and Gazetted holidays.
Library Resources and Services
Book Bank:
Under this service, SOL library provides long-term access to essential textbooks, supporting students, especially those from economically weaker backgrounds. Learners/students can borrow books for an extended period, easing their financial burden. The collection includes core academic textbooks, study materials, and subject guides across disciplines. With a structured open-access circulation system, learners/students can register and borrow books for an entire semester. This initiative enhances accessibility and encourages self-study, fostering academic excellence among the SOL students/learners.
Teacher Unit:
It serves as a dedicated resource hub for faculty members, supporting their academic research needs. It provides access to an extensive collection of books, journals, e-resources and teaching materials to enhance the learning experience.
Reference Section and Reading Hall:
It is a vital resource hub for students and faculty members. It houses a diverse collection of encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, research reports and other reference materials that can’t be borrowed but can be accessed within the library. The reading hall at the library is open for both students and faculty members, even on Sundays.
SOL library provides access to a wide range of periodicals, magazines and newspapers to keep the students and faculty members updated with current affairs, research trends and academic insights. The collection includes national and international journals, subject specific magazines and leading dailies.
Circulation
SOL library follows an Open System Circulation model to ensure seamless access to academic resources for students and faculty. This system allows the users to borrow, return and renew books efficiently. Through an integrated digital catalogue, users can check the availability of books. The library uses KOHA software for automated circulation management, ensuring transparency and ease of access. Also, SOL library offers extended borrowing privileges for library users, staff members and faculty. At the North study centre, we offer this facility to all our UG and PG students. At all other study centres, this facility can be availed of only by students of B.A. programme and B.Com.
Reprography:
SOL library offers this service to facilitate academic activities for students and faculty as it allows users to obtain photocopies of study materials, reference books and journal articles while adhering to the copyright guidelines.
Web OPAC:
The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of SOL library is a user-friendly digital platform that enables users to search, locate and access library resources with ease. OPAC integrated with KOHA library management software, allows for seamless navigation and accessibility. This system offers keyword based and advanced search options, making it easier for users to find relevant academic materials anytime, anywhere. click here
Digital Resource (N-list, DULS e-Resources):
SOL library offers extensive digital resources through platforms like N-LIST and DULS e-resources, providing seamless access to academic materials. N-LIST (National Library and Information Service Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) grants e-books and e-journals from renowned publishers, supporting research and learning.
Additionally, SOL users can also access the Delhi University Library System (DULS) e-resources, including databases, research papers and online journals.
Resource Sharing/Document Delivery Service (DELNET):
SOL library offers Document Delivery Services (DDS) through DELNET (Developing Library Network) to facilitate seamless access to academic resources. This service enables students, researchers and faculty members to request books, journal articles and research papers that might not be available in the SOL library’s collection. This service helps facilitate research, learning and academic productivity by providing resources on demand.
Anubhuti
SOL Anubhuti centre , brainchild of Director COL, Dr. Payal Mago, is a dedicated facility aimed at providing support and equal opportunities to the divyang students. Located within the SOL premises, the centre offers various services which ensure that the divyang students have access to the resources they need for a successful and fulfilling academic experience. These include specialized learning materials, assistive technologies and customized support for academic and personal needs. The centre also offers counselling, guidance and a conducive learning environment to ensure that divyang students can fully participate in the educational activities and unlock their optimal potential. This also ensures inclusivity and empowerment.
SOL has established this “enabling unit” which has divyang friendly facilities like Read Easy reading machines, Read it HD Scholar, Braille Display etc.
