PCP Class
PCP Classes have been conceptualized as an opportunity for the COL/SOL students to interact with their teachers/tutors and fellow students regarding the difficulties faced by them, both academic and non-academic. These classes are not meant to cover the entire syllabus. So, the distance learners should not think of PCP classes as a substitute for “full time classroom teaching.” PCP classes are offered to ensure that teachers/tutors/counsellors help and guide the learners with respect to the difficulties faced by the learners, both academic and non-academic. The purpose of such a contact is to answer some of the questions, clarify doubts and lessen the learners/students anxiety to a certain extent. This is to make sure that a learner optimizes his/her learning potential.
Although it isn’t mandatory to attend PCP sessions, we strongly recommend that a student/learner attend these sessions regularly. These sessions may be very useful in certain respects such as- sharing your views on the subject with your teachers/tutors and your fellow students/participants, gain useful insights regarding some complex ideas or difficult issues (which you would not otherwise try to raise), and get clarifications for the various doubts.
Face-to-face counselling is provided to the students/learners. Here, counsellors/tutors will try to overcome the difficulties students/learners face- both academic and personal. In these sessions, students/learners are expected to concentrate primarily on subject-based (academic) difficulties and any concomitant issues.
